The debate competition which is a part of techfest was organized by the Pharmacy Education Office committee of IPA-MSB-SF , was conducted at Bombay College Of Pharmacy on 23rd December 2017. This contest was the solitary event that was conducted by the PEO committee in the pre-RX phase. The competition was open to all B.Pharmacy students and an assortment of topics were up for discussion. The event was a great accomplishment, as a record 24 teams , that is 48 students from different colleges participated in it. The event commenced around 10:00 a.m.
There were 3 esteemed judges : Dr. Malathi Raghunath , Dr. Krishna Iyer , Dr. Archana Upadhya.
At the start of the contest, all the participants were gathered as rules had to be explained and were assigned a specific code . The competition overall consisted of 4 rounds , in which , the first round was conducted in 3 batches. Each team was given 1 minute for Introduction , a minute for conclusion and 4 minutes for the actual debate , adding the overall time as 6 minutes per debate. Rounds 2 and 3 were conducted in the same method. The fourth and the final round was the "pharmacy round" , in which the teams had to debate on the topic "Generic vs. Branded drugs". The finalists included teams from BCP and VES colleges . The debate competition concluded with VES winning the first place and BCP bagging the runner up position.
A grand retort from the participating pharmacy students and a great attempt put in by the Pharmacy Education Office team ensured that 'Rx- MELANGÉ' started off with a very affirmative note.
