Trek to Prabhalgad

The monsoon trek, first event of IPA-MSB-SF 2019-2020 was organized by sports committee on 18th August, 2019 at Prabalgad.

Prabalgad is located between Matheran and Panvel and comes under the Raigad District in the state of Maharashtra; India. The Prabalgad Fort stands at an elevation of 2,300 feet (700 m) in the Western Ghats.

The event commenced at 8:00 from Bombay College of pharmacy, Kalina, which was also the first meeting spot for the participants of trek. The bus journey was fun and appreciable because of the scenic beauty of nature. The second stop of bus was at vashi which was chosen as it was near the station and more number of people coming for trek has near residence to it. An IPA member was coordinating with the participants to gather them at a same spot and also with the IPA member in the bus to know their location which was by using live WhatsApp location. The final stop of bus was at Belapur, after which it stopped near prabhalgad. Breakfast was served in bus to energize students for the trek.

The participants were divided into 3 groups with each group having 3 trekking guide and 5-6 IPA members. The trekking started at 11:30 a.m.; we reached at the top by 2:30 p.m... There were 4 rest points during trek which pumped the participants to reach heights. The third rest point has 3 swings that threw everyone into their childhood memories.

No road link, a secluded village, beautiful vista and a less often used trail made trekking to prabhalgad like rediscovering a long lost civilization. All tired and thirsty students were served with lemonade, spicy cucumber, and hot tea during the trek by villagers with a smiling face. The lunch was served on reaching the top which was enjoyed with breeze of wind and the nature surrounding.
The happiness and feeling of satisfaction on reaching the pinnacle was indeed unexplainable. Students did not fail to click pictures of the scenic beauty.
