Following
the yearly tradition of the IPA-MSB-SF the sports committee decided to hike
Kothaligad.
An early
morning start was well received by all the students as they arrived at Bombay
College of Pharmacy pumped up for the adventure. We left for the destination at
7 a.m. breakfast was served in the bus. The bus journey was great with a lush
green field welcoming the students.
189 students
reached Peth village. The team from traveler’s tribe guided the students. We
were divided into groups of 25 students with each group having one local guide
and two committee members for guidance throughout the trek.
No road
link, a secluded village, beautiful vista and a less often used trail makes
trekking to Kothaligad feel like rediscovering a long lost civilization.
A day trek
to Kothaligad offers a lot to the aspiring trekker. The route is dotted with
many viewpoints with the Bhairoba caves at the top. The grass
along the slope is lush green, swaying gently with the wind and the green
fields make an excellent contrast against the deep red earth of the plateau.
The pinnacle is often draped in clouds and it adds to the seclusion and charm
of this place.
The heat did
not bring down the spirit of the students to scale the height of the fort in
2:30 hrs.
All tired
and thirsty, students were received by a cup of hot tea, lemonade and snacks at
the houses of the locals at the top who
welcomed us with smiling faces and talked to us about their daily routine in
the place.
What was
also great to see was people helping and motivating each other to keep going
and finally reach the pinnacle.
The descent
was promising to be even more adventurous. Students continued to find their spots
for photos against the scenic background.
Students
reached back to the village where the students were served lunch. Students then
boarded the buses for the return journey. Students reached Bombay College of
Pharmacy at 6 p.m. with fond memories.
