ANNUAL REPORT 2019-20
Indian Pharmaceutical Association-Maharashtra State Branch-Students’ Forum (IPA-MSB-SF)is a subset of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association, for Pharmacy students in the state of Maharashtra. Since decades, this student-run organization has brought Pharmacy students under one umbrella, where that their energies have been synergized towards activities pertaining to the Pharmaceutical world. All facets of the Pharmaceutical world: academia, industry, community and hospital pharmacy, management are highlighted by the organization. Over 1000 students are directly invoked in the activities of the IPA-MSB-SF. The IPA-MSB-SF prevails in its efforts to promote the Pharmacy profession due to the continuing support with its associated colleges, the Indian pharmaceutical industry and the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA).
GENERAL SECRETARY COMMITTEE
The GS Committee of IPA-MSB-SF co-ordinates with all the other committees so that the events are organized smoothly. They ensure smooth and efficient functioning of the association. This committee serves as an extra helping hand to all the other committees whenever they need any kind of help. The committee makes reports of all the events that are organized throughout the year and also ensure that all the requirements of all the committees are fulfilled. They keep a record of all the activities taking place and also the upcoming events. They make sure that all the committees work effectively and efficiently throughout the year and make each and every event a successful one.
CULTURAL COMMITTEE
The Cultural Committee of IPA-MSB-SF brings out the best in every Pharmacy student, through its plethora of year-round cultural events. One of the most anticipated events of IPA-MSB-SF, Rx Cultural Festival, which include events like Fashion show, Group dance, face painting, candle décor, solo and duet singing and dance. The broad objectives of this committee is to identify, enhance the talents among students and draw participation from thousands of students from 20-22 Pharmacy colleges across Mumbai. The committee meticulously works to organize the 3-day long festival by unleashing all their creativity. Garba Raas is another major event celebrated with utter zeal. ’Aesthetica’ is the major contest that take place at the start of the year that give opportunity to all artists from different colleges to compete with each other in various competitions, The Committee also organizes online competitions as well as workshops to improve skills and update students with new trends and techniques in cultural activities like quilling, photography, all of which have receive overwhelming participation each year.
PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICE
The PHO Committee strives to highlight the importance of the Pharmacists as health care professionals by organizing campaigns, rallies and health awareness programs. Individual campaigns and street plays are conducted by each of the Pharmacy colleges as well. The Blood Donation Drives are one of the most fundamental and successful campaigns of the IPA-MSB-SF. Other awareness campaigns include Anti-tobacco campaigns, anti-smoking rallies, campaigns for spreading awareness about lifestyle disease, HIV awareness campaigns. Each year, over 50 such campaigns are conducted by this Student Forum.
PUBLIC RELATION OFFICE
The Public Relations Office (PRO) is the link between all the Committees of IPA-MSB-SF as well as the vital link between IPA-MSB-SF and the Pharmacy colleges. First and foremost, this Committee promotes the year-round activities of the Student Forum among the students. The PRO introduces new Pharmacy colleges to the IPA-MSB-SF and provides a platform for them to showcase their talents. The PRO also assists other Committees to make the activity/events successful- the Maharashtra Local Exchange Program (collaboration with the SEO Committee), Rx Techfest (collaboration with PEO Committee) and Rx Cultural Fest (collaboration with Cultural Committee) to name a few .They carry all the registrations of all events of all committees and they keep a record of database i.e. the details of students of all pharmacy colleges in Mumbai.
PHARMACY EDUCATION OFFICE
Seminars, workshops and training programs, the PEO Committee has meticulously organized all of them. In the start of the year the PEO Committee organizes a seminar orientation seminar for the First years of all pharmacy colleges so that they get a broad spectrum about Pharmacy as a profession. The annual technical festival, Rx-tech festival is organized by the PEO Committee. This technical festival touches upon all the aspects of the Bachelor of Pharmacy curriculum, through MPC seminar, Quiz, entrepreneurship workshop, debates, technical poster and paper presentation competitions, etc. Over 1000 students participate in these events which help them to showcase their technical talents, to boost their self-esteem and develop their communication skills.
SPORTS COMMITTEE
The sports committee of the IPA-MSB-SF brings together a plethora of sporting talents across pharmacy colleges in Mumbai to a common platform where the best from each college compete to win the coveted trophy with absolute sportsmanship. The committee organizes a monsoon trek for an adventurous away from the daily hustle and this also helps the students to get in close acquaintance with the nature’s flora and fauna. It also organizes various team sports such as rink football, field football, volleyball, throw ball, box cricket and tug of war for both boys and girls. Indoor sports events include Table Tennis, carrom and chess. We believe that the values learnt on the sports field are unmatched. Sports teach you leadership, passion, hard-work, dedication and a spirit of never giving up, this helps the students to acquire knowledge about various games and also remain fit and healthy. The sports committee believes in upholding these qualities.
STUDENT EXCHANGE OFFICE
SEO Committee gives students the opportunity to experiment with various avenues of the Pharmaceutical profession. Many students have undergone Hospital Pharmacy and Community Pharmacy training due to the efforts of the SEO Committee. Students are trained at reputable hospitals including Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Saifee Hospital, Bombay Hospital and Hinduja Hospital. Events like Maharashtra Local Exchange Program-the so called heart of the committee gives opportunity to the students of rural areas to explore Mumbai in all its technical ways and allow to widen horizons, Hospital Pharmacy training programs, Community Pharmacy training programs, industrial visits are conducted and these events lead to awareness amongst the pharmacy students regarding the field of pharmacy and its practice on different levels.
EDITORIAL COMMITTEE
The Editorial Committee publishes the monthly print newsletter of IPA-MSB-SF, Panache Buzz, as well as the annual technical magazine of the IPA-MSB-SF, Panache. Panache publishes scientific articles by students, features exclusive interviews with the stalwarts of the Pharmaceutical Industry and also chronicles the yearly activities and achievements of IPA-MSB-SF. It provides platform for budding writers, new research and a correct path to broaden our horizons with respect to current affairs of the pharmaceutical world. Apart from above the committee hold literati events throughout the span of the year which include literati and buzzwords to name a few. From designing ID cards to promotional posters, the Editorial Committee is the backbone of the Student Forum.
FINANCE COMMITEE
Overseeing of finances plays a vital role in the smooth functioning of any organization. At the IPA-SF-MSB, the finance team works with this aim in mind, the Committee looks into the needs of running of the Student Forum and help maintains a stable financial record, performing banking operations, getting sponsorships , budget planning for Rx, building a strong financial support and keeping an account of the same are the major roles of the finance committee.

A new committee was formed in the year 2018-2019 sole purpose of which is to look into certification and registration of students and distribution of trophies.
MONTH: AUGUST
1) Event- TREK
REPORT:
The monsoon trek, first event of IPA-MSB-SF 2019-2020 was organized by sports committee on 18th August, 2019 at Prabalgad. Prabalgad is located between Matheran and Panvel and comes under the Raigad District in the state of Maharashtra; India. The Prabalgad Fort stands at an elevation of 2,300 feet (700 m) in the Western Ghats.
The event commenced at 8:00 from Bombay College of pharmacy, Kalina, which was also the first meeting spot for the participants of trek. The bus journey was fun and appreciable because of the scenic beauty of nature. The second stop of bus was at Vashi which was chosen as it was near the station and more number of people coming for trek has near residence to it. An IPA-MSB-SF member was coordinating with the participants to gather them at a same spot and also with the IPA member in the bus to know their location which was by using live WhatsApp location. The final stop of bus was at Belapur, after which it stopped near Prabhalgad. Breakfast was served in bus to energize students for the trek.
The participants were divided into 3 groups with each group having 3 trekking guide and 5-6 IPA-MSB-SF members. The trekking started at 11:30 a.m.; we reached at the top by 2:30 p.m. There were 4 rest points during trek which pumped the participants to reach heights. The third rest point has 3 swings that threw everyone into their childhood memories.
No road link, a secluded village, beautiful vista and a less often used trail made trekking to Prabhalgad like rediscovering a long lost civilization. All tired and thirsty students were served with lemonade, spicy cucumber, and hot tea during the trek by villagers with a smiling face. The lunch was served on reaching the top which was enjoyed with breeze of wind and the nature surrounding.
The happiness and feeling of satisfaction on reaching the pinnacle was indeed unexplainable. Students did not fail to click pictures of the scenic beauty. Students then travelled back down to the bus that reached BCP by 8.00 p.m. with happy memories.

Event: INDUSTRIAL VISIT
REPORT:
With everyone underscoring the distance between curriculum and practice, students can’t help but wonder about the de facto modus operandi of pharmaceutical industries. To satiate this curiosity of pharmacy students, an Industrial Visit was organized by IPA-MSB-SF SEO committee on 25TH August 2019. Students of D. D. Vispute College of Pharmacy and Research Center, Panvel were given a chance to see for themselves, the insides of Milan Laboratories, Kamothe. 16 students along with the SEO representative of the college reached Milan Laboratories at 10am. Students were greeted with refreshments on arrival which was followed by a presentation about Milan Laboratories. Milan Laboratories are WHO- cGMP compliant with more than 300 Marketing Authorizations worldwide.
After the presentation students were guided through the different areas of the industry and briefed about the standards, procedures and equipments used inside. The Manufacturing area consisted of two units. One was reserved for the production of tablets, capsules and dry syrups while the other was reserved for the production of Penicillin. People working in the Penicillin plant were screened for Penicillin sensitivity prior to their recruitment in the plant. Milan Laboratories also uses a software-based program called QAMS which helps them in Complaint Handling, Change Management, Deviation Management and Audit Process.
Students got to learn about:
1. The working of Rapid Mixer and Stirrer used for Milling
2. The working of Fuel Bed Evaporator and RMS used for dry mixing.
3. System of water supply, purification and recycling.
4. Packaging materials used in industries.
5. Proper disposal of pharmaceutical waste products.
The Industrial Visit concluded with a short Q&A session with the executives of Milan Laboratories. Everyone got participation certificate before departure. Students got to learn about a lot of new things giving rise to a sense of enthusiasm about the field of Pharmacy among them.
3)Event: Pharmascope- Orientation Seminar.
REPORT:
‘Pharmascope’- an orientation seminar was exclusively conduced for first year B.Pharm students with an agenda to diversify their knowledge about Pharmacy as a profession. It was successfully conducted in 2 sessions of 2hours each. Academia veterans - Dr. Anand Shedge and Dr. Krishna Iyer - were invited to discuss the potential career opportunities, the socio-economic dynamics, the future and the influence of Pharmaceutical industry in the GDP of a country. A talk on the new PCI syllabus was also touched upon in great depth. An interactive session with each speaker ensured that every student was given personal attention to their queries regarding the topic of discussion.
With an overwhelming participation of 172 young and brilliant minds, the event marked a successful start for the Pharmacy Education Office, Indian Pharmaceutical Association Maharashtra State Branch Student’s Forum.
MONTH: SEPTEMBER
1) Event- NAVRATRI 2019
REPORT:
IPA-MSB-SF organized garba night on 29th September 2019 from 5:30 p.m. onwards and it was filled with fun and frolic! More than 200 students participated in this event. The registrations of the students were done near the entrance and they were provided with refreshment coupons. A Momo Stall had also been put up for the participants to enjoy delicious momos. Students were dressed up in their best traditional dresses and danced to their hearts content. It was as if they set the dance floor on fire with their fascinating garba moves.
Among the crowd few were selected for the best costumes and best dancer and they were asked to dance on one garba song. It was difficult to decide for the judges to award the best dancers and best costumes (both male and female), also their traditional attires left the judges baffled and they had to choose the best among the best! As their feet stopped, they had the amazing spicy experience at the refreshment counter where they were provided delicious “Biryani”. Also, a stall had been put up for Mehendi where the experts could decorate the hands of the students with intricate and wonderful Mehendi designs. The Best Dancers and Best Attire winners were given hampers of Beauty products. Finally, this fun filled event ended and the participants left with joyful memories.
MONTH: OCTOBER
1) Event- Rink Football 2019
REPORT:
Keeping up the tradition, this year too, Sports Committee of IPA MSB SF organized Rink football event with the same flamboyant spirit among students. The event was conducted on 13th of October 2019 at turf located in Kohinoor international school, Kurla. The event started at 8.00 am, with the registration of teams. Registration was done by Sports committee along with PRO committee. This year committee introduced girls football matches along with boys. Total 34 teams had participated in the event from all pharmacy colleges.
After the completion of registration of teams, matches started at 9am with great enthusiasm and grace. The day was blazing hot but the players were full of energy. The place was filled with cheers from audience. At around 1.30 pm a break was given for all players, referees, and committee member to re-energize and work more efficiently. After the break, round two started with a great bang.
The most intriguing aspect was the splendid field display involving mass student participation which splattered on the field.

The event concluded at 6 pm. At the end of the day everyone departed with commendable vigor and enthusiasm. All the members of IPA-MSB-SF put on a spectacular display of courage, hard-work, skill and brilliance during the event.
2) Event- Visit to Saifee Hospital
REPORT:
To strengthen the understanding about the working of a Hospital Pharmacy and giving the students a practical experience along with the theoretical knowledge. A Hospital Pharmacy visit was organized by IPA-MSB-SF SEO Committee on 5th October,2019. Students of Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Pharmacy, Vile Parle were given a chance for an hospital pharmacy visit at Saifee Hospital.4 students along with the SEO representative of that college reached Saifee Hospital at 1:00 pm. Saifee Hospital has an 24hr Pharmacy. It has two pharmacies, one for the in-hospital patients i.e. the admitted patients and the other which is the 24hr pharmacy available for the general public. The students were shown where and how the medicines are stored.
Students got to learn about:
1) How the medicines are classified depending upon the use and type.
2) They were shown how different types of medicines need to be stored in different conditions.
3) They were explained the exact working and role of a hospital pharmacy right from buying the medicine to its sale.
4) The working of the Data Management System, how and on what basis the inventory, stocking, ordering is done and were shown the software used for the same.
5) How the medicines for the in-hospital patients were transported.
3) Event- Industrial Visit
REPORT:
To give the students an deeper understanding of pharmacy as an field and how the industry operate. To bridge the gap between industry and academia, an Industrial Visit was organized by the IPA-MSB-SF SEO Committee on 24th October, 2019.Students of Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Pharmacy and Shivajirao S. Jondhle College of Pharmacy were given a chance to visit the Gelnova industry and see its working.40 students along with the SEO representative of the college reached Gelnova industries at 10am. Students were briefed about the industry and its working before showing them different parts of the plant. Gelnova Industries is mainly involved in the manufacturing of Soft Gelatin Capsules & Lozenges for pharmaceutical application. The students were shown the Plant, Production Area, Packaging Area, the Quality Control Department, Labs(Research Laboratories), and the Warehouses used for storage.
Students got to learn about:
1) Working of industrial boilers, condensers and other heavy machinery.
2) Production Area where the soft gelatin capsules were made and shown the Encapsulaion machines, Lozenge Manufacturing line, Blister machines.
3) Packaging Area where the capsules were packed into strips, which then were packed into boxes and cartons respectively.
4) Q.C Department ,the students were explained about the steps taken for quality control of a drug before its made available for the public use.
5) Labs where the students were shown and explained about the working of the automated machines like Polarimeter, Karl-Fischer Titrator, UV Spectrometer.
6) Warehouses for storage the drugs, API, Excipients and the packaging material.
The Industrial Visit concluded with a short Q&A session with the executives of Gelnova Industries. Students got to learn about the practical application of pharmacy and its scope in the industries.
MONTH: NOVEMBER
1) Event- National Pharmacy Week Activity
REPORT:
The National Pharmacy Week was celebrated by the members of IPA-MSB-SF in third week of November to acknowledge the invaluable contributions that pharmacists make to patient care. This activity was conducted at central, western and trans- harbour zone and covered around 20 pharmacies.
The pharmacists were given a certificate and a rose as a token of our appreciation. We interviewed them asked various questions like what inspired them to take up this profession, the problems they face as a pharmacist and what message they would like to give to the future pharmacists. We were acquainted with so much knowledge and the aim of this event to appreciate this professional field was successfully accomplished.

1) Event- Cancer Awareness Seminar
REPORT:
With the instances of cancer increasing each passing day and the emergence of new classes of cancer, it has become of immense importance to make our students aware regarding the causes and the rightful treatments of the disease. With this thought in mind, the Public Health Office of IPA-MSB-SF came up with a “Cancer Awareness Seminar” by a renowned oncologist Dr. Sundaram Pillai. He is a senior resident medical officer in a number of hospitals like MCGM hospital, KEM hospital and is also an assistant professor of surgical oncology at D.Y. Patil Hospital. On our guest panel, we also had a cancer survivor Mr. Lalit Pardasani who fought a Mucoepidermoid Cancer of his tongue at a very young age.
The seminar commenced with an extremely informative and interesting session by the doctor covering all the general aspects of cancer- like its medical terminologies, origins and types followed by a brief discussion regarding the differing causes of cancer as well as the different types of treatments available – like chemotherapy, radiations and surgery. The main focus of the session was self- awareness about the scientifically proven causes, the rightful prevention and proper and timely diagnosis of cancer. This educational session was followed by a Question and Answer session between the doctor and the students. Later, our guest, Mr. Lalit also shared with all the students the story about his fight with cancer and how he overcame his disease with a proper treatment and an improved and healthy lifestyle.
All the students were inspired by his courage and will power.
The students got to learn a lot of new things from this seminar. The doctor also stressed upon encouraging these students to spread this awareness among more and more people who do not have direct access to this information. The seminar was concluded with the felicitation of the doctor and the guest with certificates, a mug and a sapling. Overall, it was a very captivating and enlightening seminar for all the students.
2)Event- Digital Photography Workshop
REPORT:
A photography workshop was organized by IPA-MSB-SF in collaboration with Satyam National Academy of Photography on 22nd, December, 2019. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Himanshu S. Malushte who has won awards in photography competitions organized by Kodak at National and State level. The workshop was attended by around 30 students.
Various elements of photography and its types were explained by him. A demonstration and practical activity on photography was also conducted in the second half of the workshop. Thus, the participants not only learned but also implemented what they learned by this outdoor practical activity. The aim of the session to inculcate and develop new skills in the students was accomplished.

3) Event- Pool and Gaming Tournament
REPORT:
The Lan gaming and Pool Event, the pre-Rx event of IPA-MSB-SF was organized by the Sports committee on 28th and 29th December 2019 at Prime Mall, Irla, Vile Parle, Mumbai-400056.
On 28th December, Pool Boys and the Lan gaming event was held. The registration started at 8:30 am. All the participants had arrived till 9:00 am. A total of 81 students had participated. The registration closed till 9:30. The event commenced at 10:30 am in the pool area and the gaming event started at around 11 am. There were singles and doubles matches. Everything went smoothly. Every rule was told to the participant before every game in the first round. Students spectating the games were amused and it felt like we were having the match in a stadium. The final caught every spectator's eye. The event ended at 6:30 pm and the winners of pool boys are as follows:

On 29th December, the pool event was held for girls. The registration started at 9 am and was closed till 9:45 am. The Number of participants was 90. The first game of pool girls singles and doubles started at 10:30 am and the final ended at 5:30 pm. The final match was a very interesting and the crowd created a great ambience and increased the appeal of the event.

Event- Relay and Football
The first Rx event of the year 2020 of IPA-MSB-SF organized by the sports committee was held on 5th Jan 2020. The events were Football and Relay (400 m).
The relay event was completely successful and no issues were raised. The event started at 9:15 am in the morning and ended at around 5 pm. The delay took place due to common participation the relay participants in the football event as well. A total of 15 colleges had participated. There was so much excitement and enthusiasm on the faces of the participants which made the event event more fun-filled and energetic.

The football Event was successful as well. All the participants enjoyed the game and true sportsmanship was observed among all the participants. 15 teams had participated in the football event. The event started at 9:45 am and ended at 6 pm. A lot of matches were ended on the basis of penalty shoots. The final between BVCOP and NM was nail biting match which was also concluded on the basis of penalty shoots. The match for the 3rd place ended in a draw between BCP and SVBCP.

Event- Turf Cricket
Sports Committee of IPA-MSB-SF had organized turf cricket on Friday,-17-Jan-2020.
The event was a great success due to the co-ordination among the IPA members and the enthusiasm among the participants as well. The event registration started at 8:00 am sharp and registration was completed till 9:00 am. Around 16 colleges and 35 teams had participated in the event and competed against each other. First match started at 9:15 am and the final ended till 7:30 pm. Participants were immensely happy and satisfied with the overall flow of the event.

Event- Throwball
As always Sports committee of IPA-MSB-SF organized Throwball event which went successfully. The event was conducted on 19th of January 2020 at Bombay college of pharmacy, Kalina. Registration started by 8.00am and events started by 9.00am. The matches started with great enthusiasm and cheer. Among the players there was also great sportsmanship. All committee members were doing there duties with full efficiency . the event concluded by 4.30pm.
All members of IPA-MSB-SF put on a spectacular display of courage, hard-work , skill and brilliance during the event.

As we do it every year, this year too, Sports Committee of IPA MSB SF organized outdoor volleyball (2019-20).A great success paid well for our committee for making it possible.
Everyone was thrilled and was excited for this day. There were many twists and turns Service aces, assists, digs, blocks and skills. There was volleyball jargon and enthusiasm flying on the day of Inter- College Volleyball event conducted by IPA MSB SF on the sole ground of Bombay college of pharmacy Santacruz. The match was organised for all the pharmacy colleges under IPA family. Registration was done by sports committee along with PRO. After the completion of registration of teams, matches started at 9am with precision and determination. The weather was a bit harsh on us but that didn’t stop the players from giving their all. The volleyball court saw all players ready to display their skills and passion. There was also a cheerful audience to cheer the players. The energy displayed by players of all the institutes was remarkable. It kept on pulling the crowd towards the intense match. The players were completely engulfed in playing.
On the other hand audience was no less attentive towards the game. Every hit, was backed by applauses. Whenever ball was missed on either side, it made even audience despair over it. All the colleges had well experienced players. The game kept audience involved till the end. It ended on high note with a speech stressing upon the importance of healthy matches and sportsman spirit. Refreshments were served after the match. The event was a success in every respect. It was a great experience for the payers.

Event - Rx Techfest 2019-20
The Rx Technical festival 2020 was conducted by the Pharmacy Education Office, Indian Pharmaceutical Association Maharashtra State Branch Students Forum. The Pharmacy Education Office was headed by Mr. Manav Gandhi. The Technical Festival consisted of various technical events and seminars related to pharmaceutical sciences and careers in the pharmaceutical industry.
Rx Technical Festival commenced with the Maharashtra Pharmacy Congress, conducted on 11th January 2020 at NCRD’s Sterling Institute of Pharmacy located in Nerul (E). The Maharashtra Pharmacy Congress was attended by 200 students of pharmacy colleges from all over Mumbai. Our first speaker of the day was Dr. Arun Bhatt. Dr. Bhatt has been the President at Clininvent Research Private Limited and has been the Medical Director of Novartis India Limited. In addition to this, he has been President of Indian Society for Clinical Research (ISCR) and was also awarded ISCR special award for his notable contributions in 2017. He shared his knowledge about the various types of clinical trials, their applications and explained the importance of their crucial role in drug development.
The next speaker for the day was Mr. Yashesh Mehta, who has been the General Manager and has headed the QA department at Reliance Clinical Research Services for 5 years. He had also worked in the capacity of Senior Director at InVentiv Health for 3 years and is currently associated with Cytespace research Private Limited as a Senior Manager. He spoke in depth about data management and also gave us an insight on clinical research.
The following speech was given by Mr. Raja Gupta who had been a research associate at IND Swift and has served as a senior research officer at Glenmark Generics LTD for 5 years. During his 3-year tenure at Cipla, he had been the Management Leader and is presently associated with Ajanta Pharma Ltd in the capacity of Senior manager. He gave us an in depth idea about data management and its extensive use in the industry.
The concluding speeches of the day were given by Mrs. Uma and Mrs. Banerjee who shed some light on the topic of clinical trials and counseled the students on the same.
MPC was followed by Oral Paper Presentation which was conducted on 31st January 2020 which was also the first day of Rx Bombay 2020. The topics of Oral Paper presentation were Pharmacology and Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Designing. 20 teams participated in the Pharmacology oral paper presentation and 9 teams had participated in Pharmaceutical Analysis oral paper presentation. The Pharmacology paper presentation was judged by Dr. Preeti Kulkarni of Gahlot Institute Of Pharmacy and Dr. Sujit Nair of Dr.Bhanuben Nanavati College Of Pharmacy.

The Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Designing paper presentation was judged by Mr. Kunal Gokhale of Dr. L. H. Hiranandani College of Pharmacy and Dr. Radhika Raheja of Dr.Bhanuben Nanavati College Of Pharmacy.

Oral Paper Presentation was followed by PharmaQuiz. Over 100 teams of students from pharmacy colleges across Mumbai took part in this event. It consisted of four rounds, the first round was divided into 4 batches because of a large turnout of teams of various colleges across Mumbai and was conducted on 31st January. The next 3 rounds were conducted on the 2nd Day of Rx Bombay i.e on 1st February 2020. The quiz had questions about pharmaceutical sciences, products etc.

The final event of the Technical Festival was thePoster presentation which was conducted on 1st February 2020 which was also the second day of Rx Bombay 2020.
The topics for Poster Presentation were Pharmaceutics and QA & QC. The Pharmaceutics poster presentation was judged by Dr. Smita Nayak of Gahlot Institute of Pharmacy and Dr. Aparna Darshan Palshetkar of CU Shah College of Pharmacy.

The Rx Bombay Technical Festival 2020 was an overwhelming success because of the efforts and dedication of the committee members under the right guidance of the head of Pharmacy Education Office, Mr. Manav Gandhi. The Pharmacy Education Office continues to reach new heights and has certainly set up a new benchmark for the upcoming years.

Event - PHO AND PHO EVALUATIONS

Every year PHO releases the Protocol for Health Campaigns to be conducted in the year. Public health office deals with organizing various camps which are basically
divided into 7 categories :
1) Blood donation campaign: Various colleges organize blood donation camp which can be in association with the blood banks.
2) World health campaign: Colleges arrange campaigns of the world health days in accordance with world days declared by WHO which is being mentioned in the protocol provided by Public Health Office.
3) Innovative Campaign : Colleges organize camps for prevalent disease world wide in an innovative ways.
4) Rural Area Campaign : Campaigns are organized in Rural areas for creating awareness about various disease ,its diagnosis, information about balance diets, etc.
5) Menstrual hygiene awareness camps: Campaigns related to menstrual health, proper use of sanitary napkins, and various diseases caused by improper menstrual hygiene is discussed under this type of camp
6) Community Outreach campaign: A skit was performed on the topic Generic v/s branded medicines ; for 8-12 mins which includes 20 volunteers because of which local public were made aware about generic medicines, difference in price of generic and branded medicines and Jan aushadi kendra.
7) Cleanliness Drive : Various colleges organize a cleanliness drive at a specific location , the aim of which is to bring out the awareness regarding the cleanliness of our society and encouraging people to keep their surrounding areas clean.
The campaigns for this year included Blood Donation Camps’; World Health Days where colleges can conduct campaigns on health days like ‘World Hepatitis Day’, ‘World Heart Day’, ‘National Epilepsy Day’ among others mentioned in the protocol; Innovative Campaigns; Rural Area Campaigns; Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Campaigns Community Outreach Programme and Cleanliness Drive.
PHO Evaluation: Evaluation is done in presence of dignitaries. Various
colleges present their camps they have conducted annually. Various
evaluation parameters are considered during the evaluation such as-
▪Target audience for the camp
▪Impact of the camp
▪Interaction with local public
▪Need of the camp in that particular location
Evaluation of the Health Camps carried out by the Pharmacy Colleges which was conducted on the 2nd Day of Rx Bombay. All the colleges presented their campaigns that they executed in accordance to the protocol. These campaigns were judged and evaluated by eminent judges who themselves work for the welfare of the society in various ways. The college which conducted the best campaigns was awarded and individual Best Campaigns were also awarded to the colleges that made the maximum impact through that camp.

Like every year Rx Bombay too started with the indoors sports competition organized by Sports Committee of IPA MSB. It held at Bombay College of Pharmacy. Indoors included games like Carrom and Table Tennis for both boys and girls. The event started at 8.00 am, with the registration of teams. Registration was done by PRO committee.This year committee introduced girls football matches along with boys. Total 15colleges had participated in the event from all pharmacy colleges.
After the completion of registration of teams, matches started at 9am with great enthusiasm and grace. The place was filled with cheers from audience.At around 1 pm a break was given for all players, referees, and committee member to re-energize and work more efficiently.

The event concluded around 7 pm. It was a successful event and a great start for Rx 2020.
